Forever - Organizing Albums and getting share links

________________

Overview

Forever is a great photo and video app for use with MyFamilyArchive.  The primary benefit MyFamilyArchive provides is to bring your nested Forever Albums to a more viewable posture, and assigning them to individuals and families. After all, you may know what’s in your nested Albums one or two levels down, but it’s often difficult for friends and family to know what’s there and find those that are important to the family. With MyFamilyArchive, everything is front and center and guests can find everything without knowing your nested album structure.

Organizing Albums

A good way to organize your Albums in Forever is to create one album for each person and one for each family, each holding just one photo (1 photo is required by Forever if you wish to have a Cover Photo).  Then put sub-albums into each primary Album. For a cleaner presentation, we do not recommend putting a second level of nested folders into your Forever organization.  Just put them all in the first level down.

MyFamilyArchive then allows you to put these sub-albums into a person’s or family’s collection, adding multiple chapters if you wish. You may find with MyFamilyArchive's clear organiation that you'll want to break Albums down into smaller and more specific Albums rather than just one general album.  For example, rather than doing search and adding an Album for all photos of a child, you may wish to curate their photos and add Albums for "Best When Young", "Best of Teen Years", "Best Recitals", "Scouting Activities", "Graduation", etc., giving more meaning to their collection. You can also add photos of awards, diplomas, etc., and perhaps even videos of activities when young since the same video can be stored once in Forever or another site and linked to several collections in MyFamilyArchive.

Getting a Share Link

  • We recommend you organize such that no Sub-Albums in turn have other Sub-Albums.  Bring all Sub-Albums to the "second tier" for that person (see above).
  • Click on the Sub-Album you want to link to
  • Above the Album Cover Photo, click on Share
  • Click Copy Link (you can also determine here if others are allowed to upload files to this album using this link)
  • This link is then pasted into that person’s or family’s collection page in MyFamilyArchive as a Linked Album

Getting a Preview Image

  • Unfortunately, Forever does not allow an automatically generated Preview Image.  But with just a bit of know-how, it takes only seconds to create this via the upload button. Please see Creating a Custom Preview Image in our Help Section.
