Creating a Collection Page

The core element of MyFamilyArchive is the Collection Page. Each person and each couple has a Collection Page, which is like a "Table of Contents" containing a list of Linked Albums that are actually "web hyperlinks" that, when selected, open a new tab in your browser and navigate to the web address of the actual media located in a different cloud site of your choosing.  This is the central premise of the app.

Before you can build a  Collection Page you must first create your Family or Organizational Tree.  (See the Help category Creating a Tree for this first step.)

You'll then be able to create Collection Pages. (Please also see the intro video "Adding Chapters and Linked Albums to a Collection Page" in the Help category: Basic Concepts.)

Each Collection Page has Five Areas

1.  The Person or Couple images and life dates

2.  The Primary Collection (Chapters and Linked Albums)

3.  Narrative (optional)

4. Quick Links (optional)

5. Timeline (optional)

1. Person or Couple Profile

You can edit the person's profile image and personal information here by clicking on TIMELINE, then EDIT.  This information can also be edited when in Edit Tree mode.

2.  The Primary Collection (right column)

This is the core of the Collection Page, and consists of Chapters and Linked Album Entries. Please see the next Help Topic Adding Chapters and Linked Albums to a Page for instructions on the Primary Collection.

3.  Narrative (optional)

Here you can add a narrative of any length on this person or family.

4. Quick Links (optional)

Quick Links are similar to Linked Albums except that there is no data field for a description.  For young people, a Quick LInk may be a direct link to that person's Facebook or Instagram account.  For deceased relatives, this could be a link to that person's records and memories in genealogy sites like FamilySearch.com, Ancestry.com or MyHeritage.com.  Or to an obituary in a site like Legacy.com.

5. Timeline (optional)

The Timeline allows you to enter data facts for that person or couple.
