Granting Guest Access to your Collection

You can share your account with as many people as you wish. Sharing can be initiated in one of two ways:

First, you can send them an invitation; or,

Second, if they already have a MyFamilyArchive account, they can send you a request.

Both are done through the app's GUEST PERMISSIONS tab at the top of the screen.  When they receive an invitation via email they will be required to register with MyFamilyArchive, but it is always free for viewers. (Registration is required so that you can control both viewing and editing permissions for each Guest Viewer.)

To initiate an invitation:  In the top banner of each page you'll see the button, GUEST PERMISSIONS.  Clicking this brings three drop-down options:

  • Invitations and My Requests to View Other Collections,
  • Invitations and Requests to View My Collection, and
  • Invite Friends and Family to View or Edit.

Clicking on the second or third option brings up the same page... a table of viewing and editing permissions that have been granted to people.  Above this table is a link titled, "INVITE FRIENDS AND FAMILY".  This link allows you to enter one or more email addresses, separated by commas. And you can add a personal note.

The Permission Entry screen looks like this below.  Please see the next Help Topic, About Guest Viewing & Editing Permissions, to understand Permission Setttings.

Once sent, an email will be sent to each email address inviting them to view your Collection.  If the recipient of the invitation already has a MyFamilyArchive account, your collection will show up in their VIEW COLLECTIONS tab.

If the recipient does not have a MyFamilyArchive account, they will be prompted to create a free account.  After doing so, your collection will show up in their VIEW COLLECTIONS tab.
